Google releases Me on the Web tool

Google announced a new tool Me on the Web It's a component of the Google Dashboard that allows you to set up custom Google Alerts for mentions of your name or email address in news articles. In addition, it offers tips and resources for helping to monitor and control your online identity.

The Me on the Web section lists links from your profile as well as various websites that make reference to it. These links are sites that are integrated into your Google profile. You've been able to see these before via your profile but the new section gives you the ability to see them all in once place.

The Manage Alerts tool is available right from the Me on the Web tool by clicking on ‘Set up search alerts for your data'. This will allow you to get email alerts from Google whenever your name, email or any search terms you specify are mentioned. This could be the name of a product that you produce or a business name for instance.

You can see the new Me on the Web tool and begin setting up alerts by visiting your Google Dashboard.
